I've been wanting to make some cupcake cards for awhile. I recently received a Cuttlebug for my birthday and it was just the inspiration that I needed to get me to sit down and finally do it. The cards are all the same, but each of the cupcakes is totally unique. I had fun thinking of different supplies and techniques I could use to "frost" my cupcakes.

My Family Christmas Card for 2008

Christmas Count-down Calendar

I plan to put a slip of paper with a song and a scripture on it in each drawer so we can reflect on the meaning of this holiday season as a family each evening. Of course there will be some chocolate in there too. The back of each drawer is decorated with the same paper as the front, but without any embellishments or numbers. Each night after we sing, read and enjoy our treat we will turn the drawer around and count-down the days til Christmas.

Magnets

I whipped up these six sets of magnets the other day. I'm thinking I would like a set for each month or at least for each season. Any paper packet would look great. These would be perfect for sprucing up your fridge or magnet board each holiday or as a gift. (These were extremely difficult to photograph so I'm sorry the pictures aren't better. They look much better in person.)

Place Cards

I recently made these place cards for an event. They were fast and easy, yet elegant and match my China perfectly. If you're hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas this year consider whipping up some place cards. It will save you from being asked where you'd like people to sit a thousand times and will save your guests the awkwardness of not knowing where to sit and wondering if they sat in the wrong seat. Make a bunch while you're at it and you'll have a stash on hand for your next event.

Thinking Outside the Box

The Aspen paper packet is a wintery, snowflake-themed paper packet. So what is it doing on this summery layout? Patterned paper can be very versatile and doesn't always have to be used solely for its intended theme. The colors and style of this paper had a watery feel that worked perfectly for my submarine layout. I want to challenge you to think outside the box on your next project and use some of your supplies for something other than their obvious purpose. (If you look up two of the stamp sets I used you'll find that neither of them has a particularly beachy, watery theme either.)

Silhouette Picture Frames

I've recently developed a love for making these Mod Podge picture frames. My Favorite Scrapbooking/Cardmaking Tool Right Now

My Favorite scrapbooking/cardmaking tools right now are Close To My Heart's foundational how-to programs. I have all five of the programs and I love ALL of them! When I receive compliments on my cards or scrapbook layouts I don't really feel like I can take much of the credit because I almost always get my patterns and inspiration from one of these books.
I think one of the hardest parts about scrapbooking/cardmaking for most people is just getting the initial idea. I used to spend hours on my layouts just trying to figure out where to place everything and how big to cut it. Now I don't have to. These books save me hours of frustration. My projects come out looking great every time. I pick my photos, pick my papers, pick my embellishments and in about an hour or so I have a completely unique and personalized project. These books are also full of creative stamping tips and techniques. If you've been looking for a way to make your scrapbooking/cardmaking faster, simpler and easier then these are perfect for you.

Good Times Artwork

"Good Times" is one of my favorite paper packets. I love the colors: Buttercup, Sweet Leaf, Twilight & Chocolate. It is very versatile, as you will see. I keep coming back to it again and again.

Some Simple Storage Solutions

I love keeping my creative space as organized as possible. It helps me make the most of my precious crafting time. With the many great storage solutions from Close To My Heart staying organized is easier than ever. Here are a few of my current favorites.

Welcome to my scrap space (my happy place).

This is my work space on one of its cleaner days.

I like to keep my stamp pads easily accessible. The stamp pads fit perfectly in the Stamp Pad Towers (Z4132). I can easily see and grab the one I need and they hardly take up any room on my work surface.

Each of the My Acrylix Organizers (Z1038) holds up to 15 My Acrylix stamp envelopes. They are stackable and feature a carrying handle that makes them easily portable.

I like to sort my stamp sets by theme and then file them alphabetically within their theme.

The Craft Jars (Z188) are great for storing small embellishments such as brads, eyelets, etc. You can keep the colors separate and just grab the one(s) you need.
